A Virginia woman is fighting for her life after her ex-husband allegedly choked her to death with a metal chain and threw her to the ground, police said Thursday.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by WAVY, Samantha B. White, 43, of Norfolk, Virginia, died after her husband, Brandon R. White Jr., 43, allegedly choked and beat her until she was unconscious on May 22.

Brandon White allegedly choked Samantha White to death and then left her for dead on the floor of their Hampton home.

After the couple allegedly left for the weekend, Brandon White allegedly went into his wife’s room and found her unconscious, according to the complaint.

He reportedly used a metal claw to smash her face in, then left for home, police say.

Police say Samantha White had previously been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and had been hospitalized several times due to her injuries.

The couple’s other children and their friends were at the home on the weekend when Brandon White was arrested.

Authorities say the couple did not know each other and Samantha had recently moved to Virginia.
